Halifax is launching a new-look One Card which will offer a second zero per cent interest period for six months following the first anniversary of taking out the card.
The new look One Card features zero per cent interest for 9 months on both balance transfers and purchases, but with a 3 per cent balance transfer fee.
In addition, cardholders can benefit for a further 0 per cent interest period for 6 months on new balance transfers made from the start of the calendar month following the first anniversary of taking out the card, again with a 3 per cent transfer fee of the amount transferred.
That means a fee of £150 on a typical balance transfer of £5,000.
Halifax says it is the only high street bank to offer a second zero per cent interest period in this way.
At the end of the second zero interest rate period, the card would revert to 13.9 per cent (based on current interest rates). It also provides cover against online fraud when shopping online.
Ken Stannard, head of Halifax credit cards, said: "Customers told us they want to be rewarded for their loyalty and we have responded to this."
The card is available from Monday14 May 2007. For more on credit cards, visit:
